Why whine when you can smile?

We, humans tend to whine about something or the other, every now and then. Why this scorching heat? Why couldn’t I crack that deal? Why it happens only with me? Why this and why that?

That’s something we all do, but the question is why?

Whining about things that you can’t help is absolutely useless. It only makes you sound like a crying baby, but no one is going to treat you like one. Whining doesn’t solve your problems. It only wastes all precious time that you should utilize in fixing what you can and accepting what you cannot. So the next time you are upset about something that doesn’t go the way you thought –

  • Free your head from all IFs and BUTs and WHYs.
  • Don’t compare your situation with others. It doesn’t matter if some XYZs seem to be having an easy life or easy success. Your life is about YOU and not THEM.
  • Think about ways you could fix things in the current circumstances.
  • Ponder on all possible options that you still have in hand.
  • If you can’t help it and there is no way you can turn things in your favour, learn from the situation and move on.

Feeling upset and whining is something that comes to us naturally. But, you have to make your head know that it is of no use. You have to forcefully choose to look at things practically and not whine. This world is full of opportunities. You just have to identify them, pitch in and make the most out of them.

And then, it is important to remember – While you’re striving for success, for a better life, a high-paying job, a bigger house and things like that, there are others and many many others, who are merely striving for food to eat, for a roof on their head, for a blanket’s warmth, for a life…

I would like to conclude it with these wonderful lines that I must have read somewhere, some years ago:

With feet to take me where I’d go,
With eyes to see the sunset’s glow,
With ears to hear what I’d know.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine,
I’ve been blessed indeed, the world is mine…

If you’re reading me here, you are in a much much better situation than thousands others. Be grateful for being blessed with so much in life. I know, life isn’t perfect and we all strive for making it better and better. But, why whine when you still have so much to smile? So,

Stop whining. and Start living.
Stop wishing. and Start doing.

I guess, that’s all for today. Enough of ‘gyaan’ to get yourself going. Have fun. Enjoy your day. Stay tuned, keep reading, keep sharing and let smiles shine…:)
