Love and Valentine’s Day

February 14 – Valentine’s Day, the day to celebrate love and togetherness, is right around the corner. While most of you must be busy planning a perfect surprise for your loved ones in the form of a glamorous evening date or an unexpected visit to their place or a much-needed holiday together, I am here writing this post to you, wishing that you all create ‘wonderful and happy’ relationships this year and every year thereafter!

Valentine’s Day or this entire week is all about celebrating Love, sharing, giving, caring, reconnecting and finding happiness in yourself and your relationships, no matter what stage of life you may be in – perhaps happily single, looking out for someone nice to mingle, in a delightful relationship or recovering from separation.

What is Love? I guess… it is the most amazing feeling in the world or, a blend of many diverse feelings like care, trust, belief, loyalty. It is something that makes you feel alive, something that makes life worth living and something that makes you ‘human’. Love makes everything else – homes, bank balances, looks, luxuries, wardrobes – appear just too insignificant. Nothing else matters, where there is love.

Just like a quote says – Where there is love, there is life!

And ‘Love’ is much greater than what you feel romantically. It is the peace you experience in your mother’s lap, the understanding between close friends, the everlasting support of your family, the willingness to compromise your wishes for fulfilling the desires of your kid, the sense of commitment and responsibility between a couple, the deep bond among soldiers fighting for their nation, the respect in your eyes for your mentor/teacher, the acts of kindness and generosity for mankind – All this is nothing but Love.

The occasion of Valentine’s Day is an opportunity for us all to celebrate this special feeling and bring more of it in our life and the life of the ones we care for.

What I would like to say is – Though a dozen roses, candle lit dinners and fancy gifts are delightful, but you should still not forget that love is NOT the highly commercialized circus that we see during the Valentine’s week. It is a much deeper and much more profound feeling that is meant to be nurtured constantly.

It seems really stupid to see people shouting out, proving their true love for the special people in their life on some specific days, as if all it takes to validate your love is just one day of being nice to them.

Celebrate the ‘special days’ like the Valentine’s Day but keep your love alive even when the roses have died, the presents have been unwrapped and the chocolates have been gobbled up.

Nurture the love you share with constant caring, being nice to each other, trusting and never letting their trust shatter, understanding, respecting, being loyal, not leaving each other’s hands in the worst of times and always making efforts to make the best out of your differences. This way, every day in your life would be a Valentine’s Day or, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Friendship Day……….After all, all of these revolve around a single feeling – “Love”!

So, keep sharing love. Stay tuned, keep reading, keep sharing and let smiles shine…:)
