Nestle’s Maggi Noodles Gets Banned in Delhi

Nestle’s Maggi noodles gets banned in the country capital, Delhi over allegations of high lead content. The Delhi state government banned Maggi noodles this Wednesday after some test results deemed the snack as unsafe. Also, this popular instant noodles by Nestle is facing questions and downfall in several other states of the country including Kerala, Harayana, West Bengal, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Reports say that the Delhi state government tested 13 samples of Maggi noodles, 10 of which contained an excessive amount of lead. Also, the presence of a chemical flavour enhancer, monosodium glutamate (MSG) was noticed, which is not mentioned in the product’s list of ingredients. The Delhi government announced to take legal action against the company, Nestle and has asked it to take back Maggi from the market. However, the company hasn’t received any order from the central or state Food and Drug Administration authorities to recall Maggi noodles till Wednesday and is offering full cooperation to the authorities.

This controversy over Maggi noodles is no secret now! You must have come across the news bulletins, the various tweets and posts over social networks, where people are sharing their views on the topic. You must have even witnessed people discussing this banning Maggi issue in offices or parks.

Undoubtedly, Maggi is the most popular, widely prepared and eaten snack of all times. Though it never gets prepared in 2 minutes but, it is still worth the wait! Whether you are on a hiking trip in some jungle or at your room away from home or, you wish to escape that green vegetable that your Maa (mother) has cooked for you some evening, Maggi has always been there for your rescue!

Youngsters won’t deny the pleasure they get while hunting for Maggi with six forks in a single plate, fighting with their friends to get more of it. Maggi has been an unmatched companion over those late night studies, last night project completions, dealing with instant hunger and when not! Not just youngsters or kids, even elders don’t mind having a few bites of these amazing noodles.

And then, everyone has a different recipe for their very own Maggi. While some boil it with simple water, others like cooking their Maggi with onions, peas, tomatoes or even cheese cubes and some garnish it with coriander leaves. Each one of you must also be having your own way to cook and relish your Maggi, just the way you like it! The good part about Maggi is, you don’t need your mother to cook it for you. A boy or a girl, a lady or a class 5 kid, Maggi is something everyone of you can cook and have. It has indeed simplified the life of many!

But with this controversy over how safe is it to consume, not only your Maggi is in danger, also some of Bollywood’s biggest names, Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta are on target for having endorsed Maggi noodles at some point of time. Reports say that a complaint has been filed against these celebrities by a court in the state of Bihar.

Whatever the tests or the government may say, whatever action the laws may take, one thing is sure. Even if Maggi gets banned completely, it will be a favourite to many; for the role it has played in your life, for the numerous memories that have been lived and created over plates of Maggi, for the fun it has added to your life all these years, for the amazing Maggi Khushiyan stories, for the variety of Maggi recipes and for a lot more.

I just wanna say –

Dear Maggi, you have always been one of India’s most loved food brands and you will always be!

I wonder, the government which is working over banning Maggi noodles, why is the same government quiet over injurious stuff like liquor, cigarette and pan masala that not only harm the ones who consume them but, also the ones connected to them! Before, banning Maggi and pulling it out from the market, why don’t these people pull out all the stock of liquor and cigarettes from the market? Perhaps, it would save a lot of lives, prevent a lot of inhumane acts and save a lot of homes!

Much more than Maggi, drinking and smoking is killing you and the society. Say NO to Alcohol. Say NO to Smoking. These things can never really help you overcome stress, they will just make you lose your senses. And, I guess, it’s much better to live in your senses than living out of them! What do you think?

Stay tuned, keep reading, keep sharing and let smiles shine…:)
